Articles on: Collecting Reviews

How to get reviews for my product?

Ali Reviews gives you several ways to collect reviews from your customers. You can automate email requests, share QR codes, let customers leave reviews directly on your store, import existing reviews, or send manual requests. Here's an overview of every method.

1. Send automated email review requests

The most hands-off way to collect reviews. Once you turn it on, Ali Reviews automatically emails customers after their order is fulfilled.

How it works:

  1. Go to Collect reviews > Email setting.
  2. Toggle on Send review requests automatically.
  3. Set your timing (default: 3 days after fulfillment).
  4. Click Save.

From there, every fulfilled order generates a review request email. You can also set up follow-up emails (reminder, thank-you, apology, customer reward) to keep collecting reviews after the first email.

Read Sending review requests via email for the full setup guide.

2. Share QR codes

QR codes let customers scan and leave a review without needing an email. You can place them on packaging, inserts, receipts, or anywhere your customer might see them.

Ali Reviews has two types of QR codes:

  • Order QR codes — tied to a specific order. Generate one from the Request dashboard > Orders tab, then download or print it to include in that customer's package.
  • Product QR codes — reusable codes tied to a product SKU. Generate them from the Product QR tab. Print them on packaging or display materials. Every scan from any customer counts as a unique open.

3. Let customers leave reviews directly on your store

If a customer visits your storefront without receiving an email request, they can still leave a review via the review box on your product page. No action needed on your part — this works as soon as Ali Reviews is installed and your widget is set up.

4. Send manual email requests via CSV

If you have a list of customers you'd like to send review requests to directly — outside of your Shopify orders — you can upload a CSV file with their details.

How it works:

  1. Go to Collect reviews > Manual request.
  2. Download the manual request template (a Google Sheets link is provided).
  3. Fill in the template with customer name, email, and product ID.
  4. Export the file as CSV.
  5. Upload the CSV and click Send now.

The CSV can include up to 2,000 rows per upload. Each row must have a valid email address and product ID. Read Scheduling manual requests for orders outside Shopify via CSV file for details on the template format and error handling.

5. Import existing reviews

If you already have reviews from another platform or app, you can bring them into Ali Reviews.

  • Import from AliExpress — show supplier reviews directly on your product pages. Go to Import reviews > AliExpress.
  • Import from other apps via CSV — migrate reviews from other review apps. Go to Import reviews > CSV file.
  • Bulk import — import all product reviews at once using integrated apps like Zopi or DSers.

Frequently asked questions

Which method collects the most reviews?
Automated email requests typically generate the most reviews because they reach customers at exactly the right moment — just after their order arrives. Adding a follow-up email (like a reminder or thank-you) can increase response rates further.

Can I use email requests and QR codes together?
Yes. They're independent channels. A customer can receive an email request and also scan a QR code — only one review submission per product is recorded.

What if a customer already reviewed via email but I generate a QR code for that order?
The QR code still works and will show as "Reviewed" in the dashboard once the customer scans it. If they've already reviewed, the review submission page will recognize their product review.

Do imported reviews affect my review request emails?
No. Imported reviews are displayed on your storefront but don't trigger or cancel email review requests.
