How to set up Custom Sender Domain

Setting up your own sender domain lets you send review request emails from your store’s domain (for example, hello@yourstore.com) instead of the Ali Reviews default address.

This helps your emails look more professional and reduces the chance they end up in spam.

1. Prepare your domain

Before you start:

  • Make sure you own your store's domain (for example, yourstore.com).
  • You’ll need access to your domain provider account (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Cloudflare).
  • Free email domains such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook, and Shopify-hosted domains like myshopify.com, cannot be used.
  • Changes may take up to 48 hours to update depending on email provider that you use.

2. How to set up Custom Sender Domain in Ali Reviews

To set up Custom Sender Domain in Ali Reviews, please follow those steps:

  1. Go to Settings & Pricing → General --> Custom domain.

  1. Enter your store domain (example: yourstore.com) -> Continue.

  1. Copy all DNS records shown in Ali Reviews app:
  • TXT (sending)
  • MX (receiving)
  • CNAME (tracking)
  • Optional: DMARC (improves deliverability)

  1. Open your domain provider (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.) → go to DNS Settings / DNS zone editor.
  2. Paste the value from Ali Reviews, make sure each record exactly as shown (Type → Name → Value).

  1. Save -> return to Ali Reviews -> click Verify Records.
  2. When verified, click Activate domain.

If you’re unsure how to add DNS records, check available guidances if your DNS provider is listed below:

In case that your provider is not listed, you can contact your provider to ask their guidance.

Notes:

After clicked Verify records, here’s what you may see:

  • Verified → All records are correct. You can move on to the next step.
  • Pending → Some records are still updating. Wait a few hours (maybe 24 hours) and try again.

Ali Reviews will also automatically recheck your records once a day until they are verified.

If you don’t activate domain yet, your store will continue to use the default Ali Reviews sender.
