[Manage Reviews] Collection reviews

This article explains how to pool your product reviews by Shopify collection so shoppers see one shared review stream on your collection and product pages. It's part of the Managing reviews.

What collection reviews does

Collection reviews gathers the reviews from every product in a Shopify collection into a single shared stream. Shoppers see that combined stream — with its own rating, review list, and AI summary — on your collection page and on each member product's page.

There's no new reviews to collect: collection reviews pools the reviews you've already gathered on the products in a collection. Each collection maps one-to-one to a Shopify collection, so you manage which products belong to it in your Shopify admin, and you decide inside Ali Reviews which collections pool their reviews and which reviews appear.

Before you start

• Your collections come from Shopify. To add, rename, or change which products belong to a collection, manage it in your Shopify admin — not in Ali Reviews.
• The reviews that pool into a collection are the ones already on its member products. If a collection has no product reviews yet, collect reviews on those products first.

Turn on collection reviews for a collection

Collections start turned off. Turn one on to show its products' existing reviews as one shared stream.

1. In Ali Reviews, go to Manage reviews and select the Collection tab.
2. Find the collection you want in the list. Use Search collections to filter by name.
3. Switch on the Reviews toggle in that collection's row.;

You'll see a confirmation toast. Turning a collection on displays its products' existing reviews as one shared stream and AI summary eligibility for it — it doesn't collect any new reviews.
To stop showing the shared stream, switch the toggle off. A disabled collection shows an Off badge, and its row can't be opened.

Tip: To add, rename, or change the products in a collection, click Manage collections in Shopify to open your Shopify admin. Changes you make there flow back into Ali Reviews automatically.

Understand the collection list

Each row in the Collection tab shows the collection at a glance:

Collection review details

On the Collection tab, click an enabled collection row. The Collection review details page opens.

At the top of the page you'll see the collection's average rating, a star breakdown, published count, and a rating distribution bar for 5★ down to 1★.

Find the review you need

• Filter — filter the list by Published, All, or Pinned, each with a count.
• Search reviews — search the pooled list by keyword.
• Secondary filters — narrow by time, product, or rating.
• Sort — switch between most recent and highest rated.

Actions on each review

Every pooled review has the same actions as elsewhere in Manage reviews, and any change applies to the underlying product review (so it updates everywhere the review appears):

• Publish / Published — show or hide the review within the collection stream.
• Pin to top — pin a review to the top of the stream.
• Delete review — remove the review. Because it belongs to the underlying product, deleting it removes it everywhere.
• More actions (⋯) — Reply to review, Add/Remove verified badge, Edit review, and Delete media (also applies everywhere).

Each pooled review shows which product it came from ("on {product}"), and reviews added in the last 24 hours carry a New badge that clears automatically.

Edit which products are in a collection

Collection membership is always managed in Shopify.

1. On the Collection review details page, click Edit products.
2. In the sync dialog, click Go to Shopify admin to open the collection in Shopify.
3. Add or remove products there. Your changes sync back to Ali Reviews.

Collection AI summary

Enabled collections can show an AI-generated summary of their pooled reviews, alongside topic highlights, on the Collection review details page and your storefront.

• When a collection is eligible, its summary and topic chips appear on the details page. Click Generate new to refresh it.
• To keep a collection out of AI summaries, add it to the Exclude collections list in Manage reviews → AI Summary. See How to enable and set up AI summary.

Collection AI summaries follow the same rules as product summaries, including translation into your storefront languages.

Displaying collection reviews on storefront

For now, collection reviews can only be display on Review Box widget.

To display Collection Reviews on your storefront:

1. Go to Online Store → Edit theme.
2. Open the page where you want to display the reviews (e.g., a collection page or product page).
3. Click Add section → Review Box.
4. In the Review Box settings, locate Select Collection (optional) and choose the collection reviews you want to display.
5. Click Save.

What you might see

• "Collection reviews is a Basic feature" card — your plan doesn't include collection reviews yet. Click Upgrade to Basic or See plans to unlock it.
• "No collections yet" — you don't have any Shopify collections yet. Create one in your Shopify admin, and it will appear here.
• "No reviews to pool yet" — the collection is on, but its products have no reviews yet. Click Collect reviews to start gathering them on the member products.
• Off badge — the collection's toggle is off, so its reviews aren't pooled and its row can't be opened.
• AI summary: not eligible — the collection doesn't yet meet the requirements for an AI summary.

Frequently asked questions

Do I collect reviews separately for a collection?
No. Collection reviews pools the reviews already on the collection's products. If a collection is empty, collect reviews on those products as usual and they'll flow into the stream.

Why can't I edit products from inside Ali Reviews?
Collections are Shopify objects, so their membership is managed in your Shopify admin. Ali Reviews always sends you there via Edit products to keep the two in sync.

If I delete a review from a collection, is it gone everywhere?
Yes. Pooled reviews belong to the underlying product, so deleting a review — or deleting its media — removes it from that product and anywhere else it appears, not just the collection.

What happens when I disable a collection?
Its reviews stop pooling, it shows an Off badge, its AI summary turns off, and its row can no longer be opened. Turning it back on restores pooling..

Can I feature specific reviews at the top?
Yes. Use Pin to top on any review.
